A Business Analyst is a...

Finishing the "Business analysis foundations" course from Lynda.com and receiving the certificate after passing the exam was an enjoyable experience which gave me incredible insight into exactly what the role entails.

A Business analyst is the one who ensures the smooth sail of a ship. Although we're not hired to put out fires, we're the ones with the business acumen to ensure a project is delivered according to the vision. We're the ones making sure requirements are met, roadmap and scope are concise and clear, and transition is smooth. We bring value by establishing connections with the stakeholders, knowing how, when and what to ask and what to answer to each one. We develop test cases and acceptance criteria to ensure client satisfaction through iteration. We embrace change and quickly adapt to new software. We are the bridge between the technology and business departments. That's what it takes to be a successful Business analyst.

Being proactive is key to growing, which is why in the span of the first few months of my college program I have already connected and had conversations with numerous professionals from the biggest Canadian financial institutions like RBC, TD and BMO, averaging 1-2 sessions per week. This hustling way of life is an integral part of my personality and that's exactly what's pushing me to my limits.
